Instructions For Dr. Anderson’s
Cataract Surgery Patients
On the Day of Surgery

After your surgery is complete your eye will be covered by a plastic shield. You can remove the shield once you get home, and re-apply at bedtime.

Use your eye drops as follows:

      1.   Ocuflox use one drop into operative eye every hour.

      2.   Voltaren use one drop into operative eye every hour.
(Make sure you leave at least five minutes between drops.)

      3.   Pred-Forte every second hour into operative eye.

Make sure you wash your hands before putting in your drops.

For easier instillation of the drops tip your head backwards and pull down your lower lid to make a pouch for the drop to fall into. If you find it easier you may lie down.

Be careful not to touch the bottle of drops on your lid, eyelashes or any other surface.

It is very important to use these drops as instructed as they will help clear the vision and help the eye heal faster.

You may wear your glasses during the day and remember to wear your eye shield at night.

After the freezing wears off you may experience some discomfort. If you do you may take your favourite pain medication, we usually recommend Tylenol. You may take one or two tablets if needed.

Appointment Time: _____________________________________________

Remember to bring payment for the lens with you to this appointment.

Your vision may be blurry after surgery and will become much clearer by the next day. Your eye may remain red for a month or so as it heals.

Be careful not to bump or rub your eye. Gently clean your lashes as drops may build up on the lashes.

Do not lift anything heavier than 20 pounds. Otherwise carry on with your normal life.

If you experience any problems please call my office at 604-530-6838 during the day, or my home at night 604-881-7045.
